Extracts of Ulva lactuca Induce Responses against Penicillium digitatum on Oranges

چکیده
Penicillium digitatum causes severe damage to postharvest and stored citrus fruits, making it necessary seek acceptable solutions limiting environmental sanitary impacts. The seaweed liquid extracts (SLEs) obtained from the green macroalgae Ulva lactuca have previously shown anti-fungal activities towards mold due P. digitatum. Moreover, treatment with aqueous ethanolic had an influence on disease incidence lesion severity wounded oranges “Valentia late”. Therefore, we studied abilities of U. chlorophyll a (as standard) activate defense mechanisms in oranges. analyses showed modifications protein concentrations β-1,3-glucanase peroxidase orange tissues, maximum activity level reached at 72 h after treatments. It appears that SLEs were able fight infections absence direct contact pathogen, reflecting induction host resistance is also probable mode action. fractions are rich a, polyphenols, organic acids ulvans, which might be key molecules involved mechanism oranges’ albedo. use these natural substances could alternative way control rot.

Integrated control of Penicillium digitatum by the predacious yeast Saccharomycopsis crataegensis and sodium bicarbonate on oranges
Our investigation of integrated biological control (IBC) started with an assay testing activity of the predacious yeast Saccharomycopsis crataegensis UFMG-DC19.2 against Penicillium digitatum LCP 4354, a very aggressive fungus that causes postharvest decay in oranges. Under unfavourable environmental conditions, the yeast showed a high potential for control (39.9% disease severity reduction) of...

متن کاملEffect of Temperature, pH and WaterActivity on Penicillium digitatum Growth
Growth curves fitted Penicillium digitatum were used to analyze the effect of temperature, pH and aw on their growth. To asses observance of independent variable effects on all growth parameters (λ, latency time, μ, growth rate and ymax maximal growth) a slow growth strain of P. digitatum was employed. Growth curves were obtained at different conditions of temperature (10 ̊C 40 ̊C), pH (3.0 7.0) ...
متن کاملThe influence of sulfathiazole on the macroalgae Ulva lactuca.
Sulfonamides (SA) are a class of antibiotics routinely found in environmental matrices and therefore their role as contaminants should be investigated in non-target organisms. With this purpose the present experimental work has evaluated the exposure of the chlorophycean Ulva lactuca L. to sulfathiazole (STZ), a SA drug commonly used in aquaculture, at two concentrations representing prophylact...
متن کاملPenicillium digitatum metabolites on synthetic media and citrus fruits.
Penicillium digitatum has been cultured on citrus fruits and yeast extract sucrose agar media (YES). Cultivation of fungal cultures on solid medium allowed the isolation of two novel tryptoquivaline-like metabolites, tryptoquialanine A (1) and tryptoquialanine B (2), also biosynthesized on citrus fruits. Their structural elucidation is described on the basis of their spectroscopic data, includi...
